FAQs
What’s the best way to reach Rachel?
LinkedIn is usually best. I get a lot of sales pitches through my contact form, so they get buried quite often.
What information should I have ready before contacting Rachel?
An elevator pitch about your company is enough. We can go over what your current state looks like together, and brainstorm where I can help. No deck or formal brief required.
What if I’m not sure I need a fractional CMO yet?
That’s a common starting point. Many of my engagements start by evaluating what you actually need, and sometimes it won’t be a fractional CMO. A 30-minute discovery call costs nothing and clarifies whether the problem you’re describing is actually a CMO-tier problem, an agency problem, or a hiring problem. If it’s not a CMO problem, I will say so, and usually point you toward someone better suited. Worst case, you get an outside read on your situation.
Is there a minimum engagement length?
Most engagements run six months minimum, which is the trial period before moving to a month-to-month retainer. The first three to four weeks are audit and planning; results take longer than 30 days to show up on B2B eCommerce sales cycles.
Can I hire Rachel for just strategy, without execution?
I would need visibility and authority over your marketing functoin end-to-end, but happy to focus on strategy and optimizing workflows and then hire in contractors or incorporate your existing team as needed. However, if you want strategy exclusively and a nice proposal/deck at the end of what to do, that isn’t going to provide much value for you, because there’s no one to run the strategy after it’s written.
Does Rachel work with companies outside B2B eCommerce ops?
Rarely, but I always love learning about new industries. I’m currently building and implementing AI-powered workflows for companies in the M&A space, and prioritize opportunities to learn. I do tend to lean toward B2B rather than B2C.
Does Rachel travel for client work?
Engagements are remote-first. I’ve worked remotely with US-based clients since 2015 across multiple timezones. Onsite visits happen occasionally for kickoffs, leadership offsites, or major milestones when there’s clear value (and budget for it). Most weekly work happens via Slack, video calls, and async writing.
I want to pitch a backlink, a guest post, or sponsored content–what’s the right path?
Backlink requests on already-published articles: I don’t add links to existing posts (it sets a precedent that doesn’t end well). Guest posts: the Guest Post Guidelines page covers the topic angles and submission process. Sponsored content and paid placements aren’t offered. Tool, software, and book mentions only happen when I have used them firsthand and they fit naturally into a piece.
